Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Mysuru at 2.40 a.m. on Sunday.
BJP’s State President B.Y. Vijayendra, Mysuru MP Pratap Simha, Krishnaraja constituency MLA Srivatsa, former MLAs L Nagendra and Harshavardhan were among the party leaders, who welcomed Mr. Amit Shah at the airport.
The Mysuru district administration led by Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra, City Police Commissioner Ramesh B and Superintendent of Mysuru district police Seema Latkar was present on the occasion.
Karnataka BJP president said that the meeting will see participation of 120 leaders from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituencies. “Also there is a meeting with state BJP core committee, where discussions will be held on the strategy for upcoming Lok Sabha polls.”
Addressing reporters, Vijayendra said, as BJP and JD(S) will be facing the election in coalition, it has to be ensured that there are no issues between the workers of both parties at the ground level, and the meeting will focus on this too.
BJP had won 26 of the total 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, including Sumalatha Ambareesh, an independent supported by the party from Mandya, in the 2019 polls. The Congress and the JD(S) had secured one seat each.
Also, during his day-long visit to Mysuru, Mr. Shah is scheduled to visit Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills before proceeding to Suttur Srikshetra, where he will be inaugurating a Theerthyatri Guest House.
